Carlos Candela, age 35, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at his home in San Angelo. He was born August 30, 1979, in Del Rio, TX, to Anna Avila and Francisco Candela.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North, 1002 N. Oakes St., San Angelo. A Prayer Service is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. that evening at the funeral home chapel.

Survivors include his mother, Anna Candela; his children, Alaric Candela, Carlos A. Candela, and Crystal Martinez; his girlfriend, Belinda Martinez; his sisters, Roxanna Lopez, Maritza Barta, and Sandra Dutton; and by his brothers, Genaro Candela, Marco Candela, and Enrique Candela.

Sue LaVerne (Ward) Atkins was born to Frank Edward Ward and LuEllen (Bertschi) Ward on November 18, 1950 in Hood River, OR while residing in Glenwood, WA. After her parents decided to sell the ranch, they moved to Goldendale WA, to Bellingham WA for degrees in education, to The Dalles OR for teaching positions, and to State College PA for an advanced degree. Sue graduated from State College Area High School, before returning to The Dalles OR. Sue attended Western Washington State University, Bellingham WA where she met her future husband Alan J. Atkins (USN).
They were married at the First Presbyterian Church, The Dalles OR on September 5, 1971. Sue followed Alan's Navy career for 22 years across the globe being stationed in: Homestead FL, Keflick Iceland, Skaggs Island CA, Augsburg Germany, Ft. George Meade MD., Kami Seya Japan and San Angelo TX. They have resided in San Angelo since 1988 and following Alan’s retirement in 1993 have remained in San Angelo. Sue, an Executive Secretary, worked for Fireman's Fund Insurance, Northwest Division, San Rafael CA, City College of Chicago, Augsburg, Germany, and was Civil Service in Atsugi, Japan. In San Angelo, Sue worked at Goodfellow AFB in several Administrative positions including Naval Security Group Detachment, 316th Training Squadron before becoming the Executive Secretary to the 17th Training Group Commander. She retired in April 2004. Sue was the recipient of many awards during her career including Civilian of the year and Woman of the year at Goodfellow, AFB.
Sue is survived by her husband Alan Jay Atkins of San Angelo TX, daughter Tamra S. Roberts [Bret] of Leander TX, granddaughter Jessica L. Deckers of Lubbock TX, grandson Jared A. Deckers of Leander TX, step grandsons Blake and Cole Roberts of Austin TX, brother Darold Edward Ward [Janet] of White Salmon WA, brother-in-law James A. Atkins [Alberta] of Richmond IN, brother-in-law Kenneth R. Atkins [Arlene] of Indianapolis IN, maternal aunt Hazel R. Parsons of White Salmon WA, brother-in-law Leonard C. Rolph of Glenwood WA, 4 nephews and 4 nieces. Sue was preceded in death by their son Nicholas J. Atkins, paternal grandparents Timothy James Ward and Rosa F. (Kuhnhausen) Ward Surface, maternal grandparents Viola and Cassie Bell (Leaton) Bertschi, parents Frank Edward and LuEllen (Bertschi) Ward, sister Juanita Lu (Ward) Rolph, niece Laurie Ann Rolph; nephew Timothy Peter Ward; and brother-in-law Daryl Atkins.
Sue was a devoted Christian and was an active member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in San Angelo. She was an elder and volunteer for various church and non-church programs. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, local chapter Xi Alpha Nu, from 1994 to the present, and served as Secretary and President. Along with the social aspects, she enjoyed being part of Beta Sigma Phi activities in San Angelo including donation of coats to the pre-head start program, stuffed animals to children (police dept. and children's advocacy) children's fair, fund raisers for the local food bank and sponsoring a family in need during the holidays. Sue truly adored and loved her sorority sisters. There were many passions in Sue's life among them her devotion to God, family, travel and collecting. One of her greatest joys was retiring and being able to travel and attend her grand children's activities.
Family visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, May 5th at Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 6th at St. Paul Presbyterian Church with Rev. Glenda Harbert officiating under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glenwood Community Cemetery near White Salmon, Washington.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff, especially Kacci Jacoby and Jenny Fierro, with Hospice of San Angelo and Dr. Kenneth Leckie at San Angelo Community Hospital for their compassion and special care for Sue.

Irma Celeste Shoulders, 89, “Serenaded by Angels” our mother left this earth to join her loving husband Curley on May 5, 2015. Services were already held. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
She was born to Jerry and Thelma Cheshire on July 8, 1925. At the age of eleven she met her beloved Curley and on June 30, 1946 they married and had sixty-four loving years together.
From this marriage were born three daughters, Carolyn Brown, Terry MacDougall and Vicki Wilson who she is survived by. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Natalie (Danny) Calvet, Alan (Shannon) Brown and Darren (Elizabeth) Wilson and nine great grandchildren and “adopted” sons, Mike Wood and Kerry Stewart.

Gladys Ivy Tennyson

Gladys was born September 7, 1922 in Elbert, Texas in Throckmorton County to Lula Pearl and Francis Marion Whitmire.
She was the third of six children born in this family of five girls and one boy. She grew up on the farm at Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas and graduated from Sparenberg High School in 1940. She attended beauty school in San Angelo after high school.
She married Mervin Allen Tennyson on December 21, 1941, two weeks after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. They were married for 73 years at the time of her death. They lived in California during the War until Mervin was drafted into the Navy, and she moved back to Texas.
She was a homemaker and mother of three girls. Her husband was a Baptist minister and she helped him serve the Lord at churches in Texas and New Mexico. They retired to San Angelo in 1983. She was a member of Southland Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband Mervin Tennyson of San Angelo; daughters Brenda Burg and husband Henry of Stonewall, Texas and Marsha Dickens and husband Jerry of Huntsville, Texas; son-in-law Dudley Kidwell of Abilene, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Judy Kidwell, and three sisters.
Family visitation is Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside service is at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Taylor Sandlin of Southland Baptist Church officiating.

Johnnie (Majel) Bynum, 85 of Bronte, Texas, went to be with his wife Velma Martinez Bynum on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
A private service was held yesterday at Johnson's Funeral Home.
Majel was born on October 30, 1929 in Lubbock County to Luther and Vera Bynum. He married Velma Martinez on April 30, 2004 in San Angelo, Texas. He will be remembered as having a big heart. He was a loving and caring man, and he loved his wife Velma dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include his step-son Roy Gonzalez and wife Leslie of Abilene, Texas; and his step-daughter Kimberlee Santillan and her children Felix and Jared of Lewisville, Texas.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, the staff at Bronte Nursing Home, and the doctors for the care given to Majel.

Earnestine Elaine Farris passed away peacefully Thursday May 7th in her home surrounded by family.
A memorial service celebrating Elaine's life is at 1:00 p.m. on Monday May 11th at the Chadbourne North Church of Christ with Frank Berthold officiating. Arranagements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
Elaine, or Nanny as she was known by so many, was born December 9, 1948 in San Angelo, Texas. Elaine touched so many lives during her time on this earth. She was the most caring and unselfish person. She would gladly help anyone in need. Elaine was very active in her church, Chadbourne North Church of Christ, which her grandfather helped found.
Elaine is survived by her husband Arthur Farris; brother Marshall Miller; daughter Shelly Banks, son James Farris and his wife Shawna, son John Farris, son Roy Farris and his wife Maria; grandchildren Jairod Farris and wife Reva, Jairus Farris and wife Tiffany, Ty Banks and wife Gabrielle, Trystan Banks, Adam Farris, Makayla Farris, Brett Farris, Autumn Farris, Tianna Farris, Ciera Farris, Savannah Farris, and Clinton Farris; as well as two great grandchildren Oakley Rae Farris and Jaiton Farris. She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest Clint Miller, Bea Miller Farris, step-father M.O. Farris, sister Pauline Kraemer, brother John Miller, father-in-law J.L. Farris, son-in-law Frank Banks.
Elaine's family was her world and her family was so many more people than just her blood. Everyone that entered her life was made to feel like family.
